Aging in Place Norwich
Goal: to provide free services to residents who wish to remain in their homes as they age.
Services include volunteer service days for elders, educational forums, free rides to appointments, and providing help with household chores, gardening, shopping, and light maintenance. AIPN’s volunteer drivers continue to offer free door-to-door rides for elders so they can attend appointments, however this has been limited since the pandemic began. (Developing a free runners service for elders who are house-bound and need goods and services.)
AIPN also sponsors social events.
DHMC Aging Resource Center
Offers a lot of information and help for seniors: Books and materials to borrow, in person and virtual sessions with counselors and other experts. Located in Centerra complex in Hanover/Leb. To receive their newsletter/program please call 603-653-3460.

Senior Solutions: Council on Aging Southeastern VT
Provides services and information for those over 60 living independently at home in Southeastern Vermont.
Special Needs Information Program (SNIP)
SNIP is a voluntary program in which special needs community members of any age, or their family members, can submit information such as triggers, special accommodations, emergency contacts, and a photograph. The information is entered into a secure database to which Hanover Dispatch and their First Responders will have access in event of an emergency.
The program is intended to aid dispatchers, officers, EMTs, and firefighters in their response to calls for assistance that may involve individuals with disabilities.

Support and Services at Home (SASH)
SASH serves older adults as well as people with special needs who receive Medicare support. SASH coordinates the resources of social-service agencies, community health providers and nonprofit housing organizations to support Vermonters who choose to live independently at home. Individualized, on-site support is provided by a Wellness Nurse and a SASH Care Coordinator.

Provides services to community members through an access system that is flexible and responsive to one’s current needs or requests for care. Same Day Access Clinicians are trained to help navigate the process and support until an individual is able to connect with a clinician. When an individual calls, the Same Day Access Clinician will gather the information listed below to help them connect them with the appropriate services.

Fuel Assistance/Utilities
Apply early and apply to all the programs to get maximum fuel and electric assistance. Check with your fuel provider for any assistance programs they offer. Weatherize your home as much as possible
SEVCA
SEVCA works with households to resolve emergencies involving home heat and electrical disconnection notices using programs and funds available and helps with applications. Electric heat assistance is limited to households with primary heat source of electricity or electricity that is essential to keeping other types of heating systems operational. The Wood Warms Program provides two free cords of wood to eligible households that heat entirely with wood or that supplement their primary heat source by burning wood.

Norwich Wood Bee
Norwich Wood Bee is a volunteer group that cuts, splits, and delivers firewood to those in need. The wood is provided by donation and by the town, from fallen and cleared trees along the roads.
The VT ANR allows us to deliver within 50 miles of Norwich, but not across the river in NH.

WIC is the USDA Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children. WIC gives you access to healthy foods, nutrition education and counseling, and breastfeeding support. If you’re pregnant, a caregiver, or a parent with a child under five, WIC is right for you.
